hey every one! im new here and don't know if this is the right place for this post but ill put it here anyways. so i wanted to know how i would go about putting the turbo on my 89 2.3L stang? like what i would have to do and all that or if its just a blot on thing? sorry if its a little stupid i just want to know eh?

damn i think this is like the 4,000 thread about this haha. Anyways,you cant use your stock 2.3l block. Well you can but you'd only be able to have a max boost of like 6psi which is a total waste and wouldnt be worth it. You'll have to grab the wiring harness and the 2.3turbo motor from a turbo coupe,svo which i wouldnt or a merkur xr4ti. The whole motor swap is actually cake. Just drop it in and and plug in all the harness connections.

do you want to make a full out built motor or just have a stock 2.3 turbo motor.

if you want to run it as a stock 2.3 turbo motor the cheapist easyist way is to do a motor swap.
if you want to build a built motor, you can use your stock block crank and rods. you would need a turbo head.then the rest of the stuff, ie turbo mani from stinger or make you own ect ect.

OK BUDDY I HAVE A 2.3L COUPE MUSTANG I JUST ADDED A TURBO TO IT IT'S WORTH IT SO DON'T LISTEN TO THESE NAYSAYERS ON HERE I'M 16 AND I AHVE A 87 COUPE MUSTANG WITH A TURBO 2.3 BACKED WITH A T-5 IT'S EASY TO DO I DONE IT MY SELF WITH THE HELP FROM MY DAD OK THIS IS WHAT I DONE I BOUGHT A TURBO AND MANIFOLD OFF A 83 TC AND I WENT AND BOLTED IT ON THEN I DRILLED A HOLE IN THE OIL PAN AND WELDED A PIPE TO IT (NOTE U WILL WANT TO PUT A BUNCH OF MAGNETS AROUND THE DRILL TO CHATCH THE METAL SHAVENS ) THEN I TOOK A PIPE ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG AND PUT IT WERE THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT IS AND I TOOK A ALUMINUM BLOCK AND DRILLED AND TAPED 4 OR 5 HOLES IN IT ONE FOR THE OIL IN,OIL PRESSURE,OIL PRESSURE SENDIN UNIT FOR THE AUTOMETER WARNING LITE. AFTER THAT U WILL WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IT TIGHTENED DOWN AND THEN FIRE IT UP ALOS MAKE SURE U GET THE PIPE THAT GOES FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO THE EGR VALVE B/C IF U DON'T THE CAR WILL SMOKE WE DIDN'T GET ONE AND NOW WERE HAVEING TO MAKE ONE SO MAKE SURE U GET THAT BUT THE CAR DOES HAVE ALOT MORE POWER THAN BEFORE NOT HAS MUCH AS A 5.0 BUT PRETTY CLOSE

Don't stick a turbo on the stock block, the Cast pistons wont take it, and will shatter if you push it too hard. Swap in a turbo block (using the instructions that can be easily found on the web) And crank up the boost. Sure, putting the turbo on the stock block Is easier, but swapping the whole motor will result in a lot more power and reliability.
