Has anyone used naval jelly to remove rust from chrome wheels? If so, how did it work for you? I want something that will remove the rust without taking off the surrounding chrome/paint if at all possible.

Is there a better way to go about it. My wheels were urinated on by a cat and it has caused light to moderate rust on the wheels (Mag 500 repros).

Thanks,
Chad

Lime-a-way. Worked on mine. Just remember that the rust pits are still there so you have to keep up with it over the years. I would not use steel wool. That was my first move, bad move. If you you do one area you have to do all and it is a PITA to polish it all back out.

Some 36 grit sandpaper should take the rust off..... although I used chrome polish on my original mag 500s. I would test the inside of the wheel to see if the steel wool will scratch, but it should be fine. Use steel wool with the polish on the rust.

There are a variety of tricks, tips and products. I have never tried it myself, but the ole hot rod boys used to swear on just a crumpled up wad of aluminum foil and some Coca Cola to do the trick. Like chicken soup it can't hurt.
