I'm about to tighten up my suspension. What do you think about the QA-1 struts, shocks and coilover kit? Are they quality parts? I've look at the bilstein and others but just don't know what to go with. I plan to order my upper and lower control arms this week from Maximum Motorsport and hopefully decide on the coilovers soon. Thanks.

The QA1 is top notch stuff, go for it.

I had their K-Member, A-Arms, coil-overs and struts on my '87 coupe. I think everything BUT the K-Member is a quality piece. Compared to ALL other k-members, I don't like the mounting tabs for the arms. They're flimsy thin gauge steel tabs that "pull" together when you tighten up the a-arm bolts. I had also heard of them breaking with any type of regular street use.

But, everything else, as I said, seemed to be quality stuff.

Most of that stuff is made for straight line street/drag stuff. If you like to pull lateral g's a lot and/or do any type of motorsports that involves turning I would get MM's control arms and Coil over kit. Stay away from the qa1 kmember if you drive your car on the street at all.

I don't plan to change the K-member or the control arms - just the shocks, springs and strut. Thanks for the responses.

So their K members are not strong enough for the street or road racing? I have heard a some about qa1 and Steeda suspension parts not being good enough for tough lateral g loads. i was interested in those parts, especially because they are cheap but now i am turned off. i dont want anything to break on me when i am at high speeds taking a corner. my stock stuff is going to hold up with whatever i throw at it, it just wont grip. right now i am saving for MM's grip in a box kit, its not cheap but if i do anything i dont want to do it twice.
let me know what others have heard/seen with qa1 parts

Forget about even regular street use with the QA1 kmembers....I'd be afraid to hit a pothole with that thing. I was looking at it and much of their kit that they sell thru summit and jegs when I was dropping in the 331 and I did some research and its a big no no THat stuff whont hold up at all in abusive non-straight driving. Just look at the pictures of the QA1 kmember and the MM kmember and you will see that the MM one is tremendously more robust...and I bet there geometry is much better also. So now you can see why it almost 3x as much.

Just read what I said in my previous post about the a-arm mounting "tabs" and see if that sounds safe to you. It isn't and several people have had them break with regular street driving. Much less any hard cornering.

Also check out www.ajeracing.com . I went with their k-member in my '95 project and love it. You can do a search also. Many people are happy with them. I got it with the optional road race bracing also. It's just another option for you.

I think I'm going with Max Motorsport's coil over kit w/Bilstein shocks and struts (front/rear), lower control arm and possibly the panhard bar (not sure yet). I did some research on the QA-1 and they do not have a rear coil over kit - no adjustability. I need adjustability since I have the 17X 11's wheels going in the rear - I don't want the trial and error testing with the ride height.

What spring rate do you think? I was looking at the 375lb.

Peace
