I have done alot of searching on this subject ,well because mine is stripped out, pedal actually slams to the floor about half way down.It is an 83' GT w/ 5 speed,302 .

I would like to hear some opinions on after market brands.I havent called yet but are these available at most auto parts stores or online somewhwere.I am not a manual shift kind of guy,but the wife wont drive anything but a stick(that doesnt sound right) so any input on a specific type would be helpful. Most postings i've read say aftermarket is better feel and easier to install.

Thanks in advance,Mike

What are you looking for exactly? If you are looking for the stock quadrant and pawl, I think the only place that stocks that would be a ford parts store. Not to mention when I yanked the stock stuff off the pedals, with them out of the car, it took a lot of effort...meaning I think you will have a hard time getting the new ones back in. I think your wife would love the feel of the car with an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster. There are a bunch of threads on this, but check out UPR for their 3 hook quadrant and lockable firewall adjuster for starters.

I found one more to choose from, maximum motorsports quadrant setup.I do like the design better for us,although were not wanting to invest too much in this stang. She's been itching to get something alot newer or alot older.

anyone have any issues with these vendors ? I'll probably have to order something soon to have it by monday.Anybody local here in Oregon ?

Thanks again and this is the best stang site Ive found .These forums are priceless for the home mechanic.
