What happens if I remove the quad shocks for bigger rims? Does it have any negitive effects?

i removed my quad shock no diff in the ride to me. what size tire are u trying use.?????

quads are there to help prevent wheel hop. If you have a aftermarket set of uppers and lowers in the rear you will be fine to remove them if not you could experience wheel hop without them.

Do not remove the quad shocks without installing some high quality aftermarket upper & lower control arms. The quad shocks help prevent wheel hop that can destroy the rear axle gears. As the wheels hop, they suddenly lose and gain traction. That sudden unloading and loading of the rear axle gears can cause them to fail quickly.

This quad shock thing should almost be a sticky.

I was thinking about removing mine after putting in the Pro3i LCAs but I decided just to buy some new ones. They are 10$ each at Advance

If you can leave em...leave em.

If you have aftermarket control arms and can leave them...leave them.

If you want to put fat tires on, try flipping them first, but if they still don't work you can take em off. Whether or not you get wheel-hop is luck of the draw. Even with good control arms you can still have some hop.

Moral of my story is that you should make every effort to keep them on. Yeah i know 10 people are gonna chime in and say they tossed them and were fine, but if some guy jumps off the golden gate bridge and lives, does that mean you'll have the same luck??

+1. I was fine when it was a basically stock engine with aftermarket suspension. As soon as I went to the 347 with spray, wheel hop like a mutha when just taking off normal. When I took off hard it didn't

I took off my quads to fit bigger shocks (my quads were turned around so the tires would fit) and even with good after market control arms I got pretty bad wheel hop. So I beat in the shields on the shocks just enough for the quads to clear and put new quads on, and so far the wheel hop has been eliminated.

Unbolt them, and flip them over so the shaft side goes towards the top part and the fat side goes towards the bracket behind the brake drum.
