Quarter panel replacement cost....

I currently have my steetbike on ebay to raise the cash for bodywork. The drivers side 1/4 panel is rusting at the top seam where it was replaced 12 years ago, I can provide pics if needed. This seam is about 1.5" down from the top vertical portion of the panel.....Looks really bad:nonono: . I also have other rust issues but this panel is something I have never had to deal with. If you have had this done or have ideas as to the cost I would like to hear your input although I know prices vary greatly. Also I am not looking to have it repainted at this time just fixed. TIA

It can vary by quality of fender, and how pick you/or the bodyman are. It takes me a day and a half, about. 12 or so to do one. I try to make the door jams look original. I don't plug weld and leave them. So aobut 12 hrs times the shops hrly rate. Some like to charge double that, or will charge you 12 hrs, and do a ****ty job in 6 hrs.

For just the quarter 12 hours may be correct, but what about the taillight panel, the trunk dropoffs, and the wheel wells. You have to have metal to weld to, to begin with. I wouldn't weld a good piece of metal to a bad piece that may need to be replaced sooner than you think.

You may get it done for $1K but be very prepared for the while I'm at it's.

Body work is $40/hr here in TX

 Some bodymen get paid 35 an hour out here.

1966, you're absolutely right. You may think you can weld to...then you grind and look for good metal. Then comes the phone call to the customer to come and look. :nonono:

I currently only use only Scott drake stuff as we're a dealer now. It's all a little off. But there's is pretty nice. I've used some other comapines before we became a dealer, that wasn't as good. but alot of stuff now at least to my knowledge is all pretty much made by the same company.
