Anybody have a fix for the rear quarter window molding? Its all faded..anyone have the replacement from 50resto.com, and how does it fit .Thanks :D

I wouldn't take any chances on hitting your paint with the sand paper. The windows come out fairly easy. You just have to push kind of hard to break the factory seal after you take all of the screws out. Other than that, there is nothing to them.

I wonder if I can do that with the window still on the car!..?
I did, but only because the car needs repainting anyway. I wouldn't do it in place if I had a nice paint job.

I taped & masked the window glass and the body. I didn't sand it fine enough, so it still looks in rough in places, but it is black & semi-shiny. A small improvment that would have been better with more sanding time & effort.

I did use the overlay molding available from blue oval industries..they are fantastic ONLY if your installing them prior to repainting the car..I used them when the car was in for paint..NO ONE has ever noticed they are the overlay moldings..and that's exactly what I wanted..no one to notice. I would have reconditioned mine as Tim (stang22) showed, but they were far too gone to be revived..either the overlays or replacements were my options.

why are they(overlays) only good prior to painting?

I did the same thing. I painted mine on the car too... didn't come out very smooth, but it is darker and blacker now... the biggest thing was it got rid of the white stains i had from wax... a little improvement at least...
