My car peaked at 6064 rpm w/ 291 to the wheels on a Superflow dyno. At 6600 rpm it was still making 279 whp. Where do you think I should be shifting for optimum results at the drag strip.

When the car was bone stock, I ran 13.65 @ 103 mph. The above numbers are after adding an Airaid CAI kit, Diablosport tuner, and Magnaflow 'Magnapack' 3" cat back exhaust.

I am wanting to get the car in the 12's on street tires with very little $$$. I've got another drag car that gets most of my attention...

What does the torque curve look like? Since your HP peak is at 6064, your torque is starting to fall off and running it out to 6600 may not work best. As to getting into the 12's, hobboattacker has done it on street tires with basic bolt-ons, so you should be able to as long as you are on a well prepped track.

TQ at those points was 263 and 250, respectively. My torque peaked with 306 ft/lb @ 4372 rpm.

Ideally, you want to keep your RPMs between the TQ peak and the HP peak, so you need to look at what the RPM drop is for you 1-2 shift, 2-3 shift, and 3-4 shift. If the RPM drop is greater than the difference, then base the shift point so you are using the most amount of torque. I'm sure you are making more than 250 Ft-Lbs at 4100RPM, so it's better to let the RPMs drop rather than run it out to 6600RPM where you only have 250 Ft-Lbs.

On my pass that I ran the 12 on I was shifting around 6200 rpms from the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. I would cross the traps in the VERY top of third (about 6300-6400 rpms) with the stock 3.55 gears. You can hit the 12's on the stock tires, it just takes a little practice.

If it helps, I launched around 3k and slipped the clutch until about 5kish or until you know that your car wont bog when you let off the clutch completely. When I slipped the clutch that time I had zero wheel spin on the launch and a little spin on the 1-2 shift very little on the 2-3 shift.

Here's a vid...

Here is the original thread I made when I ran the 12

Edit: Shift at the point that puts you right back at the beginning of your powerband. Shift to early and you will "bog", but if you shift to late you are just spinning the motor at a point that doesn't make power. Takes a little practice to get used to, but it's a fun "journey"

My rwhp peak was at 6050-6100 rpms on a dynojet. At the track i shift at 6400 rpm's on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and cross through the traps in third gear at 6250-6300 rpm's. This is stock 3.55 gears and stock 18 inch tires. These shift points have given me the best results so far.
