Question about injectors.

Hey guys, in a couple of weeks i am going to be putting powerheads in my car and a B303 cam. I am also wanting to buy a tmoss ported lower intake. Now here is my question if i do all of this and i am still running 19# injectors will this hurt my engine? Will it make it run lean? If it will what if i don't buy the intake right now will it still lean out? Thanks guys, Nick

No it will not hurt your engine. It will not lean out. Just get a fuel pressure regulator and maybe a better pump if you don't already have them.

HOw much is a fuel pressure regulator? What if i wouldn't get them, then would it not run well? I am just on a tight budget so i am seeing what i need to purchase. Thank you, nick

I bought one from Summit for $54.88. It's a Holley part number HLY-512-500-1. It work just fine. If you don't get them right now it should still run ok. It all depends on what your car's pressure runs at stock. It is easier to tune with a regulator though and probably a little safer if you get a bigger pump.

Kirban's are supposed to be the best, check this link out.

You're stock fuel system can handle about 300-330 max fwhp with the fuel pump running out first around 300 then the injectors at 330. If you crank to fuel pressure up to 60psi which is the absolute most you would ever want to go they can handle about 330 fwhp.

I think you will be ok with the stock regulator....maybe a little lean but ok. I think you will definetely need a bigger fuel pump. Also, you should probably get a bigger mass air meter. Ported heads and a cam will underperform with the stocker. What's the point of more air flow if you are restricting going to restict it?

I'm running 19# injectors on my new combo - you'll be fine. If you can score a set of Explorer 19# injectors, they flow more as you jack pressure up. The stock injectors flow ~20-21# when cranked up to 44psi and the Explorers flow ~21-24psi. I have a Crane adjustable regulator bought from Summit.

I ran the stock fuel system just fine until recently, only swiched because I got the parts cheap.

19# injectors will not hurt, especially if you crank up the pressure to 44 psi with an Adj. fuel pressure regulator. On the other hand, this is a perfect time to swap out for 24# injectors as well. Good luck with oyur decision.
