k, im gonna buy the o/r x-pipe from mustangtuning, but i wanna get some flows for it. now, which would sound best with this midpipe? 40's? american thunder? series 1? delta? those of you who have some kind of setup like this tell me what you think. is it loud? did you gain some power?

by the way, here is a link to the flows partshopper offers:

I don't know what 'series 1' is, but I would say get the original 40s. American thunder is the 40 deltas. I have the original 40s with my X and I couldn't be happier with the tone. The new Super 40s are supposed to be the best Flowmasters, but I havent heard them with the X pipe. But any way you go, if it's Flowmaster, its gonna sound great.

the 10 series (i think thats what you're referring to with series 1) are INCREDBILY loud, and may get you in trouble during inspection (may). They're barely any muffler at all, and normally used in race applications where some form of muffler is required to reduce SOME amount of sound.

As far as the 40s american thunder, you wont get in as much trouble w/ em, but they arent as loud.

Because X's are raspy, some people say they're not good with flows, due to the rasp. Usually people will recommend H's, as they rumble more.

I personally like X's because of thier flow, but it all comes down to personal choice in sound.

By the way, an offroad pipe, with 10 series flowmasters, will be INCREDIBLY LOUD. If that's what you're shooting for, go for it, but just be really careful around cops and stuff, because you will get pulled over on occasion. (like me)

I'm kind of partial to my Force II(50 series/3 chamber) cat-back w/ my Dr. Gas. Quiet when I need it to be(near cops) and loud as hell when I get on it.

The midpipe you've selected is a great pipe, but do not go with flowmasters. Flowmasters are complete crap, they're only good for sound, they don't even flow well. They create hardly any back pressure. I drove my friends stock bullitt with flowmaster series 40, and then I jumped in my ride, completely stock and it seemed like my stock exhaust system was noticeably faster. Go with magnaflow or borla man.
