Question about power steering.

Hello, when I was buying my mustang the owner put a one of those battery assist jumpers, ( I don't know what they are called), anyways it forced the power steering high press hose to get cut on the pulley.

I drove like that for about 100 miles without any fluid. Then installed new hose and drove for about 6k miles. Everything worked, but pump was noisy and had leak somewhere.

I just installed new pump, but haven't ran car yet... and most of liquid is new because I was adding so much fluid due to leak, about 3 qt to 4 qt Or more. ( But oil leak does get rid of metal fragments)

I worry that there may be metal fragments in system that will damage new pump.

Tell me what you think? Do I need to continue to flush. If yes what is an easy procedure?

Would be high chance of metal particles in the system due to pump running dry for 100 miles.?

Should I just throw a inline filter on it.

Can I use compressed air to force all remaining fluid out of system?

Thank you for suggestions and sharing some info. I decided to your use compressed air to get anything remaining in the system out. And i have used inline magnetic filter trap any metal fragments .
