I'll apologize in advance if this has been discussed before. I've been digging around for information on this, but haven't gotten a hit.
I'm putting together a GT40P/Explorer Intake/N41 combo on my 90. The stock pushrods are too short, by about .038. When I remove the fulcrum guide, the length is perfect and I get a nice contact wipe in the center of the valve tip, with 3/4 turn lash per Andrews instructions on the cam card.
Can I run the stock rockers without the fulcrum guide, or should I order a set of custom length pushrods? If I order new rods, will I still have a centered contact patch?
I was able to torque them down to 22 foot pounds while maintaining alignment, but I'm not sure whether those guides still need to be there.
