question about the cobra

how did the cobra get its name i know it is not named after the snake but how did shelby come up with the name

last months classic mustangs and fords did a story on shelby. they stated that the people financing the car wanted a but rejected the one that he wanted. so said something to the effect of just call it the cobra.
