Well its seems that when I friend my battery due to my internals of my alternator blowing up, my battery started to corrode my postive side connector and possibly part of the wire.

Now I see the wire seems to split off. 1 going to the starter and the other going to the fusebox.

My first question is there a place that would sell this wire cheap? Since I went to one of those genuine ford parts places and it is like $400.

My second question is if I would be able to make my own wire?

Thanks,

Dan

Yeah I am thinking doing it myself would be the easiest...Just getting some 2 gauge wire.

Also this might be really ghetto, but could you simply cut the old wire down a little bit and just add wire to it and a new connector on the end?

Dan, your better off just replacing the wire.

more work yes, but it will result in a better job, and trouble free in the long run.
the tough part about using big gauge wire is having the right tools to cut it, and crimp connectors correctly.

i'm also at that point.

I am soldering my wires, so no problems there.

You could definitely do this. Make sure you use the correct solder for the application and wrap it well.

Wire is just wire. There is no magic to the factory wire at all, in fact, I'd bet good after market stuff is probably better.

I agree that fine strand aftermarket wire is better (it's generally more mallable, can have greater flux properties, etc).

build one yourself.

I don't think the factory wire was big enough.

after moving my battery to the trunk and installing larger cables my car started better than ever.

i'd take it as a sign that you need to move the battery to the trunk. you know, for safe keeping...

Sorry to bring this back up but I am about to make the cable... I was just wondering if anyone knows how to make it or what I should use?

So would it look like this with 2 separate cables coming off the battery?

Also are there any other connections on the positive side, since I read something about the O2's be connected somehow?
