Question For the Do it Yourselfers on trac control

OK, know I have made MIl eliminators and sequential tailights is it possible to MAKE a traction control mod that would turn that crap off on startup and be able to turn it on when needed

well they make a kit that does that, so yeah it can be done. but unfortunately i wouldn't have a clue how to. when you first start the car up the light flashes on, like the t/c is off. so if you could somehow reverse the relay the computer uses to tell the the car to turn it on it would work. i wish i could be of more technical help. sorry

it uses a switch that is momentary on. this triggers the trac. cont. on and off. I am not sure but am looking into the same thing. I may just buy one.

It Looks Like It Will Be More Complicated Than The Mil Eliminators. They Have A Big Box That Comes With It. Still Anything Is Possible When We Want To Save A Couple Of $$$$.......lol

I just made one using a 556 IC and R's/C's and diodes. When it gets power (key ign) it delays 5 seconds then sends a 1 sec 12v to the ECU. About $10 in parts from RatShack.
I'll see about getting the schematic.....

do you connect the 12 v sig to the Gray wire?

The PEP unit cannot be easily duplicated. Unlike the $10 radioshack unit, the PEP unit has memory. That means that it remebers on startup what the last setting was. If you are at the track or the weather is nice you can set the trac ctrl on startup to default to OFF. However, if the weather is bad or someone less experienced with the your car (i.e. girlfriend, wife, friend) is driving it, then you can set the trac ctrl to default to ON. Though it seems like a lot of money at first, the unit really pays for itself over the long run. I have one, and I find it to be an invaluable accessory for my car.

no, the button just makes momentary contact. It is not like an on/off switch you are3 thinking of.

I concur....I have one too, and to me, it's well worth the money paid for it.
