Ok I plan on dumping my exhaust. I am going to get a pair of summit shirties and 2 1/2 inch piping back to about the fron seats then into a pair of mufflers and then dump the exhaust.

I have a couple of questions being a noob to the 5.0 crowd. Am I loosing out by not running a X-Pipe setup? Loudness will not bother me at all but on a performance stance am I? Also I know sound is objectionable as far as who likes this or that but I hate flows and the way they sound. Also I would like a straight through muffler design. What is a good muffler that will give a nice deep tone that is very noticable for a good price.

If you want a nice deep sound, I would go with the H pipe... You might give up some ponies on the dyno, but may gain some low end torque. Depends on how the engine is setup and even then, who knows... I have ceramic shorties into a magnaflow catted H and a Mac Catback... LOVE the sound.

might as well just run a o/r x or o/r h and just dump it after the mufflers

You need either an h or an x pipe. So with that said, its all about taste. H has a nice low ruble and gives good torque down low. X has a bit more raspy exotic sound and gives more hp up top. I have ran both an x and h with flows and liked them both. The x was even dumped. Wasn't that loud either.

I plan coming back from the shorties then into mufflers then going with about a 45 to exit in front of the rear wheels. Is a H really going to help enough to complicate the simplicity of my plans?

Depends on if you want a bolt on exhaust or fabbed from straight pipe. Even the bolt on stuff may have to be fabbed alittle to fit your application, I had to cut, bend and reweld my X-pipe because of my blowproof bellhousing. As far as mufflers with a straight thru design, I like the dynomax ultra flows. Heres a couple of short clip of my exhaust, sound qaulity sucks but, oh well. I am doing a complete custom system. Ordering piping and flanges from JCWHITNEY and doing all the welding myself. I have also thought of running cut outs.

Don't get the junk cable operated POS. Do you have a pipe bender? Alot of times you can go to your local muffler shop and talk to some of the guys and work out a cash deal, much easier and less headache, plus it gets done quicker.

I dont have a bender but any bend I would need could be had from jcwhitney. I am 2500miles from my stomping ground so connections and hook ups are out of the question.

Find some new connections, drive around to different shops and see if they drive mustangs, you never know unless you try!
