I was reading some of the information on supersix 4.0 tech info and I came accross something that kinda scared me. They talk about some issues with supercharging..

"We already know of blown head gaskets and cracked pistons on
supercharged 4.0 SOHC’s at only 8 psi."

"Supercharged setups really need to reduce the compression
ratio from 9.7:1 to 9.0:1 and the best way to do that is with high strength forged
pistons that are dished to reduce the static compression ratio to eliminate the
problems associated with high compression ratios in supercharged applications"

Im putting the 10psi intercooled Vortech and have heard of the guys on the board here talk about the same kit. even running more psi... Do you guys have forged engines or are you running 4.0 Stock blocks???? Should I be worried???

Apreciate the help..

if your worried why not build the motor first. thats the smart why to do it. super six has the part to buil the motor up before you super/turbo a car. forged pistons probably wouldnt be a bad idea.

Your absolutly right... Money dosnt grow on trees tho and I just bought the SC and a rear end upgrade.

I will rebuild the motor eventuly maybe ill run it at only 8 or 9 psi for a while until then.

good luck. i plan on superchargin mine, but not for like 2 years lol.

im gonna get super six heads and probably a super six short block first. if you look at prices all that cost alittle less than a supercharger. see how much power that gets me. get it with a compression more suited for boost. then supercharge it. :nice:
