I'm going to be taking my 2000's rearend apart because my driverside bearings are going out and I was going to replace some stuff to heavier duty stuff to handle the cars Torque better including the Axle Splines, does anyone have a recommendation of which product to use??? Moser Axle Splines? Superior Axle Splines?? Ford Racing Axle Splines?? Also, how do I know if my car uses the 5 Lug/28 Spline or the 5-Lug/31 Spline?? Also best place to purchse it?? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Your car should have 28 spline axles. To upgrade you would want to use 31 spline axles and a carrier. The Ford racing axles are actually reboxed stange axles. I have had no issues with the strange axles. I damaged a set of moser's. For what it will cost to rebuild your stock carrier you can buy an Auburn if you have to have someone rebuild it for you.

So your saying 28 Spline axles are the direct replacement?? And to upgrade I would want to go with 31 Spline?? Whats the advantage here with 31 over 28?? Also call me naive but but what do you mean by upgrading my carrier too?? I can't just use the 31 Spline axles?? Where's a good place to pick up a Auburn??? And or what other ones are there out there for our cars??

The 31 spline axles are larger. They won't interchange. You also can't change the splines in the carrier. You can pick up an auburn new through Summit or Jegs I believe. Search for the best deal. Try to find a Auburn pro 8.8 carrier. That woiuld be the best for strength. Ebay has them used from time to time. Its just hard to get parts for them. There are other carriers out there but, the Auburn is the best for the money. Some Saleens had the Torsion carrier installed. Not sure if it was 28 or 31 spline. One of my 99's has it but, I haven't taken it apart to find out. The torsions are pretty pricey.
