I've got an 86 that someone swapped in 302 (carb). Idiling I have 6 to 7 lbs of fuel pressure. At approx. 3200 rpm, the fuel pressure drops to 3-5 lbs and I lose alot of power. However, when I shift up, it's fine until I reach 3200 rpm. I've replaced the fuel pump (mechanical), checked for leaking lines, replaced the ignition coil, replaced fuel filter, replaced the distributor cap and checked the timing. Any ideas on what the problem could be or would I be better off to go with an electric fuel pump and regulator. Edelbrock says that I need a min. of 6 lbs pressure for the carb to act right. I've posted this before but due to poor wording on my part, I don't think it was understood.
Thanks,
Brian
