Well I got the money order Sent out and Its to late now But I do got some questions, Anything I should know about buying a used Monster Tach? in the picture it is Stuck at 6100rpm disconnected I dont know if its how its sitting or if it is stuck there.


anybody Else buy a used monster tach? simple installation? \

Dunno.
If the memory button was pressed maybe that's why it's at 6100rpm.

I never had a problem with the 3.5" tach I had in my old car.

People like to steal them.

It might have an electric calibration, I don't know though. My friend had a Daytona, and when he would turn up the base the tach would spin around. When the car was running it wouldn't.

Or maybe GT Drifter is on track, I would agree with him.

well is it something that can be easily damaged? anybody buy a used one? is it easy to swap car to car and still work right? its a bottom of the line tach its a "autogage" so I'm pretty sure only thing it does is the shiftlite feature



can anybody see the pic btw?

I have that exact tach- probably just was turned after it was disconnected. Install is straightforward, if no instructions you can download from Autometer website.

ive sold them used kinda hard to screw them up unless you use an msd coil like it states not to i believe.

you just have a white wire you run to a toggle for the light, red wire goes to the positive terminal on your batt, black goes to negative, and green wire goes to your ignition.

then you run a power and ground off the toggle for the light. i believe thats it. i like watching my rpm's out of the corner of my eye on it, and the light for stomping it and not having to watch as much.

so buying a used one shouldnt be to bad I guess if the wires are in good shape,


setting shift point / when the light goes off is straightforward as well?

The reason the tach is sitting at 6100RPM is most likely because that was the last setting used for the shift light.

To set the shift light is very easy and straight forward, you turn the igniotion ON and the needle will bounce to the setting. You can then adjust it with the knob adjuster below the 10000RPM mark.

hm for an AOD car (temporarily) what do you think would be a good shiftpoint for a mostly bolt on car?

I manually shift it as well


Due to the 3 gear factor I was thinking 5400 - 5500 ish


any other opinions?

i set mine for 5000.

rarely rev that high even, usually watching from the corner of my eye and shift at about 4500.

hm. 4500 is a bit to low IMO

but you have a manual and you got better gearing etc....


what about some AOD guys?
