questions about salvage title

i purchased a 1992 GT for cheap..did a autocheck.com report and this came back.....The car was salvage but then was registered and driven 8,000 miles, so does it still have a slavage title? The title has nothing on it about a slavage. clean title

from what i understand, once it is salvaged, it will always be a slavaged title.
it makes it kinda difficult to sell sometimes.

It depends on your state laws. In Indiana a salvage title can be turned into a rebuilt title. A rebuilt title is almost as good. It is there to prevent fraud by letting you know that at one time it was a salvaged title. To get a rebuilt title here you must fix it by whatever it needs and then it has to be inspected by the State Police or The Sheriffs Department. My cousin does that for a living. A rebuilt title generally brings up to 80% of the full value, depending on the make, model and year. However on a car that is a 92, what does the title really mean??? IMO a title is just a piece of paper, unless it is a collector car or something similar.

Before i bought my GT, i went and looked at a 1990 lx 5.0 vert. It was orange with a white interior, white top, and white ponies. It looked very clean on the outside. I was ready to give the guy the cash untill he told me it had a salvaged title. So i walked away. The reason it bothered me is you never know what might have happened to the car. It could have frame damage, or who knows what else! He told me it was stolen and recovered too.

sorry, i was thinkin about california law. Once it's salvaged, it will always be.

Not true. I just had my title "revived".. Basically you make the repairs (take pictures before you do). Take it to a CHP station have it checked (and they throroughly check it). Then you will be given a certificate that you should keep with your title saying that the vehicle passed a safety check and by Cali laws it is basically as good as new. It is real important to have a car fax as well. It may still be alittle hard to sell, but you can have proof that it has been repaired to State laws.
