Questions about the GT-40 lower intake

I recently put a GT-40 lower from an explorer on my car...and I noticed a few differences between it and the stock one. First off there is a small rubber tube that runs from the back of the intake to the EGR spacer, and it carries coolant I believe, and I did not see a threaded hole in the GT-40 for the attachment thing to screw into. But I may have overlooked it. Also on the drivers side of the stock intake towards the front there is some type of sensor looking thing on one of the intake ports and again I did not see one of those in the GT-40. It may be in the upper intake, because on my ranger that is where that same exact sensor is located.
Is the small tube delivering coolant to the EGR spacer really that nesessary? I dont see where it would cool much, if any.
Any input on this is greatly appreciated.
