don't take it off, it stiffens the front of the car. you should also take off your air pump if you are running an off road h pipe. Saves weight and it's one less thing turning.

You can take both off. I had to lose mine when I did my cobra intake, and noticed no difference in handling. I'm sure an aftermarket one helps out, but the stock one seems to not do much.

The fender weight is directly above the passenger side foglight. It has two bolts (I think) that hold it in place. You can lose this as well. Just be careful if you take it off to not drop it on your forehead when you take the bolts out.

Whats easiest way to remove that 25lb weight? Get under? Do i have to remove fog light to get at it? How much does the smog pump weight?

Jack up the front of the car, you don't have to remove the foglight, in fact I don't think you can with the weight in the way. You'll be able to see it clearly, just feel around for the bolts that hold it in place, you'll find them. Like I said earlier, make sure to not drop it on your head like I did. You'll have a killer headache.

I haven't actually weighed it, but the smog pump is pretty heavy. I think it weighs around 20+ lbs by itself. Then you have all the pipes.

What do you guys think of removing the smog pump as far as difficulty? I just smogged my car and plan on being able to smog again in 07. About to do a shorty header install and maybe I could just take care of the pump as well. In fact, I didnt even have the tube attatched to the h pipe when I had it smogged and it passed!

Removing smog is super easy. Since you don't have the pipe hooked up it's even easier. Just remove the hose that runs from the heads to the pump, then you can pull the pump off itself. Then use a 1/2" (I think) wrench to get the bolts off the back of the heads. Soak them in PB blaster or liquid wrench first, then use the closed end, you don't want the wrench slipping off the heads. I had the whole smog assembly yanked in about 15 minutes. Don't forget to cap off the vacuum lines, there should be 2 if I recall correctly. Eventually you'll want to delete the smog system from the EEC using a twEECer or a chip or something.

I did it at the same as my heads and cam, so I have no idea. It really won't free up a whole lot of hp, maybe a couple. Weight savings is the main thing it does.

I sometimes can't believe the poor advice I see here, if you are into handling with higher rate springs and such KEEP THE STRUT BRACE! You want the suspension to move not the strut tower (and it will flex some). Why do they sell so many chassis stiffening kits?? stiffer chassis=better handling! fact
