i have a horsepower robbing vaccum leak, my car has a o/r h and emissions dont matter to me so im completelt taking out my smog pump and all related unecessary parts, and give everything a good seal (air tubing from exhaust and back of heads) with this being done, will it elminate my leak?

I'm gonna say no. I can't think of a way your smog equipment would have an effect on vacuum unless the vac lines that run to the smog equipment have leaks.

If the little vac lines (from the passenger side of the engine bay) are leaking, then fix them.

If you're gonna delete the smog equipment, I can't stop you, but I seriously doubt that will fix your vacuum leak.

Have you recently installed any equipment that needs a seal (intake, etc)? That's one source of a vac leak. Also, obviously, your vacuum lines are sources of leaks.

What makes you think you have a vacuum leak, anyway?

It may just be a coincidence that the whistle started after doing the h-pipe. You could have developed a leak on any vacuum line or the intake gasket could have just started leaking.

and everytime i hear it loud and clear i got to go somewhere or got some place to be, and when its the weekend got the tools out it never makes the damn noise so i cant find out where to start! lol but wouldnt there some many places a vaccum leak can happen which cause to lose hp? and this only occurs in warmer weather

Do you have any idle problems? Can you hear the whistle at idle? Usually vacuum leak noises are more noticiable at idle rather than higher rpm's. I would check to see if any of your accessory pullies are making the noise since the noise gets louder with rpm.

the stock idle of an EFI fox is at or around 650rpm.

Does your exhaust fit up nice and tight? An exhaust leak would probably make your car feel like it has less power.

I can't think of anything that would do that only in warm weather.

Did you cap the air pump pipe that went to the stock h-pipe?

actually when i put the o/r h on the tube leading from the pump to the exhaust tubing was nowhere to be found, whoever had the car took it off, where is the air pipe? i have the air coming off my h plugged with a rubber hose and a bolt in it clamped down

the air pipe is the pipe you describe that is missing - the one from the smog pump to the h pipe.

Is the smog pump just blowing into the engine bay or is it capped off? I have the same scenario on my car and mine is just blowing into the bay.

I think there was a hose from the smog pump and it ended up going into the metal pipe that you speak of (the one that went to the h-pipe)

If you're really concerned it's a vacuum leak, I would suggest getting a vacuum gauge at the auto parts store (you don't have to get one of the ones you permanently install, they make hand-held ones). Check to see how much vacuum you're pulling and tell us your modifications and someone can tell you if it's about right. Otherwise, I'd say persistence will pay off and you'll eventually nail the problem when it's actually happening.

not that I know of. My smog pump literally blows into my engine bay and I don't have any issues that I know of as a result. The car runs fine and I get 17mpg.

I really don't know what to tell you unless you do some testing w/ a vac gauge or find out more specifically the problem is. I'll let others see what they think.

Good Luck
