I am getting my gears done in a few days and I am rebuilding the tracloc while I am in there. I read something before when rebuilding them to add 1-2 more discs
Has anyone heard of this?

Cheers

adding an extra clutch is a common mod. to standard procedure. just do a search. when i did mine, i put an extra one in. i had heard you may have a bit of chatter at low speed turns, but have not experienced this yet.

There's a decent link if you want to try the posi rebuild yourself. What most will do when rebuilding, is to remove a steel plate from the rebuild kit, and replace it with the best used clutch disc from your carrier. The factory stacking order was FSSFSSF. After discarding a steel plate, and reusing one friction disc, you should be able to install FSFSFSF. After doing this, shim the side gears as tight as you can while still being able to slide everything together. There's an even better how-to website that I found, but I'll have to look for it.

So I see FRPP has a new style friction disk. Any word on how well they perform? They look mean compared to the old style ones.

P.S. Adding the extra disks is definitely a good idea.

Make sure you have either a decent caliper or micrometer. After you remove your clutches and spacers from one side, mic them then stack them as was suggested above (clutch, spacer, clutch, spacer - factory setup is clutch, spacer, spacer, etc.). When you get close to your original measurement, add shims to bring the entire assembly to what you mic'd them at after removing. Then, reassemble the entire thing, making sure to cuss repeatedly whilst trying to install the spring! Anyway, I did this to my differential waaaay back in the early '90's and I noticed immediate improvement when I too the car to the track!

Good luck
