Raced a Hertz shelby gt today.

I shouldnt be posting street races, but what the heck. On the H3 freeway (Oahu, HI) saw a blk/gold shelby gt (rent a car) heading towards Kaneohe Marine base so I pull up beside it and give it a thumbs up...as it was pretty nice and driven by an older caucasian man. He points ahead as if he wants to run so I give a thumbs up. We stop soon after and go from a stand still and he says go. I get him off the line by about 2-3 cars and he cant even make ground on me, racing to about 105 or so. Be race end, I had him by 3 cars or so and we pull over at the look out before the base. He was impressed with my car and was amazed at the take off of it...he spun for a bit. He was looking at my tires and even looked under the car and shook my hand. Said he's visiting from southern cali and there are some bad mustangs over there. Said he was on his way to the base to pick up his wife and then going to the north shore (big waves right now). I might have to rent one of those mustangs from hertz just to play around.

Its pretty nice, lowered, gold stripes on blk paint, hood pins and Im sure a few other things I didnt notice.

the Hertz cars have traction control permenantly turned on. That ruined it for me, well that and $169 per day for a mustang.

pull the fuses from the abs module.. that will disable the traction control. the traction control on all mustangs is part of the ABS system, so if you disable ABS then you got rid of the traction control too.

i wonder if people can get away with motor swaps with these GT-H's like people did in the 60s with the GT350

With your mods and how heavy the Hertz version is at 325hp, no surprise how it turned out 'Course cool you even got to see one...maybe i'll see one when I go to DC later this month.

However isn't the surf decently big on the south shores right now?
I remember when the H3 finally opened, cool to finally drive on it...i like the pali better to get to the windward side cuz it's more scenic.

Yeah I know...how's your car coming along. Cant wait for these da_n tracks to open up. Ive heard rumors about one opening by years end. Same track, but improved and under new management. Maybe we can go at it...bunch of P.O's are wanting to race their cars lately.

Waves are pretty decent on the south and north shores right now. Im not much of a water person, but my wife is an austrailian beach bum and loves it.

I was hoping these would be in Hawaii when i go back in sept...i was just reading about them. They have a FRPP power pack and gears. Beats renting the 6 cyl mustang! might be fun in the Maui mountains.

Hertz/ford have been advertising in all kinda car magazines for the rent a "shelby", Hopefully I can get one when I go to Kauai in a couple of months.

It's a shame they have to be put through rental duty first, but i guess that's part of the deal. There were 500 made by Ford, 499 are being used as rentals. 1 was sold at auction for $250,000.

Hertz gets them for 1 year and then they go back to Ford dealerships to be reconditioned and sold. Basically you'll be buying used Mustangs at that point. I also beleive the T/C will be reverted back to working via the switch like all Mustangs.

I would buy one....if hundreds of other people didn't drive it beforehand. I can deal with 1 previous owner, but not that many
