How hard is it to change the rack and pinion in a 88 turbo coupe. Just purchased this car. Power steering pump sounds like crap and had no fluid in it. Going to try lucos and see where that gets me. Assuming that rack and pinion has a seal leak. Havent had it long enough to get it under it and check it out yet.

all you need to tale off it the two mounts that mount it on to the k memeber, the tie rods, some powersteering lines and the steering column rod. thats about it. looks and seems kinda easy

ive done it twice on the stang. its No fun but its not too hard. Remove the lines, drop the tie rods (pickle ford will help for this) and then undo the Rag joint. All thats left is the 2 BIG bolts and it will come off.

P.S. I would recommend replacing tierods and you MUST get an alignment after the job is done.

Thanks for the tip maybe I can get it done this week. Shouldnt cost to much as I have a friend working as manager of a parts store and will give me parts at his cost.
