Rack on a 4cyl - 8 cyl conversion. need help

I heard that if a power steering pump off an 8cyl car, will damage the rack in that of a 4cyl car... ie: a 8cyl mustang -> 4cyl mustang



is the rack and pinion the same in both?

will a power steering pump off an 8 cyl car damage the rack?


or is waht i told a crock of ****, and nothing will happen

The v8 pump is "better" than the 4cyl one, but i know that the 4cyl one will suffice with the v8 rack... i doubt the v8 pump would hurt the 4cyl rack, but i dont know for sure.

i ran my agr pump on my 4cyl rack for 6 months before i changed my rack over to the v8 rack and it didn't hurt anything.i changed racks just to have the correct ratio on the car.
