I am thinking of coverting my old power steering unit to power rack & pinion on my 67 restored restomod. I would like to hear from anyone who has done a conversion and would like to know which vendor has the best performing product.

I put the TCP power rack in my 69. Its the most expensive one out there but I think it is well worth the money.

Its very tight and precise, and bolted right on with no modifications.

Hit the archives here, there are a few good threads from a few years ago on this subject, as a few of us have made our own or tried certain kits.

also research the remaining Mustang magzines.

Yes, headers are problems with these kits. Clutch linkage too.

from my research into the subject Randalls Rack was about the best option for the money. sine then unisteer has come out with a new power rack system that is very similar to the Randals unit but possibly with some improved features.

i haven't done much research on the unsteer unit as i ended getting a TCP rack (just the rack only) on ebay for about $250 but i have yet to purchase the install kit for it which will be about another $500 or so. it was way too cheap to pass it up, even if i have to have the rack rebuilt i'll still be in it for under a grand $$. :D

No fitment issues with headers that I've heard in selling them for 8 years now on the TCP racks. It sits right where your crossmember bolts in. A little more spendy but worth it in quality IMO.

Bnickle Call me on the install kit when you're ready!
