I am thinking of coverting my old power steering unit to power rack & pinion on my 67 restored restomod. I would like to hear from anyone who has done a conversion and would like to know which vendor has the best performing product.
Just an FYI. All the R&P kits out there were designed for use with the stock exhaust manifolds. Some work with certain headers, but it's kind of a crap-shoot unless you're fitting one of the "known" combinations.
from my research into the subject Randalls Rack was about the best option for the money. sine then unisteer has come out with a new power rack system that is very similar to the Randals unit but possibly with some improved features.
i haven't done much research on the unsteer unit as i ended getting a TCP rack (just the rack only) on ebay for about $250 but i have yet to purchase the install kit for it which will be about another $500 or so. it was way too cheap to pass it up, even if i have to have the rack rebuilt i'll still be in it for under a grand $$.
No fitment issues with headers that I've heard in selling them for 8 years now on the TCP racks. It sits right where your crossmember bolts in. A little more spendy but worth it in quality IMO.
Bnickle Call me on the install kit when you're ready!

I put in a Steeroids kit and the fit was great. I have Headman long tube with a JMC hydraulic clutch. I was not able to use the Mustang Steve cable clutch due to clearance problems with the steering shaft. It has worked flawlessly for me.
