Radar/Laser Detector/Jammer

just do what i do when you get in trouble say go go gadget helicoptor (did i spell that right?) i have heard that valantine is the way to go.

I know that i will get a lot of grief about having this, but it is hands down the baddest detector/jammer on the market. It makes for a very clean install and it really does work, as I have tried it with a friend who works for a local police department. I was lucky enough and received it as a gift, but would recoomend it to anyone.

I've heard Valentine one is the way to go...it has arrows that tell you where the radar is coming from; they're pricey. I'll eventually get one.

I've never heard of a "cordless" one...how do you suggest it's gonna get power? If it came down to it, you could fix your cig. lighter or hard wire your detector to the battery or the fuse box.

Currently, I have a Rocky Mountain Radar Phazer, which is a passive jammer that isn't illegal because it transmits a perfectly legal signal, which happens to interfere w/ the police radar. Take that for what it's worth, but the thing picks up radar from 1/2 - 3/4 mile...I can be on the interstate doing 70-80 and it goes off and 5-10 sec later, I see the cop...we're both moving in opposite directions and that speed, so it picks it up from a distance. I think it might sometimes be getting semi's too because I look and see no cops, but semi's. I like it, but I want a valentine one eventually.

I've read & seen plenty of tests on that rocky mountain radar jammer. FYI. A passive jammer is nowhere effective (a joke really) as an "Active' jammer. I had a passive radar jammer (Mirage 2001) and it's worthless just as the RM is. Our last home (In Calif) had rice rockets, hotrods, rip down out streets constantly every weekend, so me along with a few neighboors were able to accuire a radar gun thru the city to use on our street and record the license plates, description etc of any excessive speeders. (of course we had to take a course to use the device correctly.) My point in this is that I decided to see just how close I could get to the radar gun without it showing my real speed. Even at 300' it picked me right up once I made the turn onto our street with my neighboor targeting me. That test there just proved to me it was useless. It's the "Active" design one's that are effective, but they are illegal and there are currently only a couple available and they run 5-700$ range.

I happen to own the Lidatek 1010 Echo Lazer Jammer which is an "active" design Laser jammer, 100% legal and works on the 904 nanometer band +/- 1 nanometer and it virtually blanked out all laser guns. it's been fully tested by nearly all the mag editors etc,TV specials. It's installation MUST be exactly how the instructions say or it becomes illegal to use. their that stringent about it. I think theres 1 other one out also, but it runs I believe in the $600
range.

Between the Laser Jammer (very rarely used) and my Uniden GPSRD Radar Detector (which happens to do a nice job) does it main job very well (watch my speedo more often) plus being aware of where speed traps, photo radar, continious wave radar is and I get a GPS that actually doesn't do to bad of a job considering it's price.
IMO to many people buy these devices for the wrong purpose, then end up dead or mamed due to the mentality of "I gotta hit 160mph with this new NAWZ kit)

Nothing beats pacing, VASCAR, or the good 'ol radio.

Some of those things are still working ? I heard new cop's laser isnt detectable or soemcrap.

Oh yeah, I used to work with an engineer that had a stang, he had a Valentine One and said he could pick up the N.M. state police a good distance down the road. I'm gonna get one of those, after I do my cam/injector swap that is

It is detectable, but the beam is so narrow (about 18" at 1000'), that it is very hard for a laser detector to "see" it in time to give a good warning. It's even possible for a LIDAR (the police laser) to get a reading off a car with a laser detector, and not set off the detector.

Detectors will often give some warning by "seeing" the beam scatter off another vehicle that's getting timed, but more often, when it goes off, you've already been caught.

Get a quality name brand with P.O.P. detection, it's a new technology that cops use to send micro radar pulses that conventional radars can't pickup. And stay away from Rocky Mountain products, they're TOTAL JUNK!!

First of all save your money and just don't drive that badly and you will be ok. Laser detectors are absolutely worthless. Officers don't point the laser at the windshield they point it usually at the grill of the vehicle so your detector won't even go odd. The radar part of it will go off when it detects the radar signal but that is also the same point that your speed appears on the radar gun so you are already busted. Also if you do get pulled over for speeding there is almost no chance of you getting a warning if you have a detector in your car.

It is up to you but I would save my money.

when they came out with the radar detector detector, then came out with the radar detector that jammed the radar detector detector, i gave up....lol......eventually they'll have some gizmo that they point at the car that sends an instant feed to a sattelite that sends them back your speed then flashes a laser beam to fry your brain and keep you from speeding......and then bill your HMO insurance. it will never end....

but on a serious note- their already experimenting with the black box stuff in cars.......just like flight data recorders in air planes, they'll be able to link into that and prove what you were or weren't doing, how fast you were going, how sharp you turned, did you apply the brakes fast enough......blah blah.......always a bigger mouse trap for us mice. eventually driving is going to be a very not so fun thing to do if you make a mistake. immagine someday when your on-star comes on telling you to knock it off or there's a ticked on it's way.

all that doesn't even touch on the camera's they'll have everywhere. just recently in my area they put camera's up on a section of freeway( 7 miles i believe) to stop speeders ( this is different than photo radar but works similar) there's alot of controversy over it, ofcourse they say it's to slow drivers down, but it's about money......it would be cheaper, safer, more effective to park a trooper there ( the cameras will make more money than a squad car in plane sight)...as much as those camera's cost to run....point being.........there will come a day where no matter what you do, your busted.

K40 intigrated radar with laser diffuser is the only way to go

I run a $40 Cobra model on both of my cars. My roommate runs it, my friend with a turbo'd 240sx and a '93 Supra TT runs it in both of his cars, and my other friend runs it in his Accord.

Long story short - it works. I have never been pulled over since I bought it (none of us have) and it has given me fair warning (~1 mile in advance depending on terrain) which has saved me several times.

As for wiring...I spliced the wire, ran it up into the driver side mounting bracket for the visor. If you have the vanity mirror with light, the mount acts as a ground and you can splice into the hot wire for the vanity mirror. Only annoying thing is that you will have to turn it off/on manually, as that power source is ALWAYS on.

Thanks to this simple install, only about 2-3" of wire is visible and the radar detector is at the roof line, so is not highly visible during the day (lights visible from out back at night) and does not interfere with driver's visibiluty of road - plus is shortest distance by arm to hit the "mute" or "city mode" buttons from driver's seat.

If desired I can get the model # on it and pics of the install. It was super simple. I just got the idea one boring summer afternoon.
