That middle piece is the radiator cover.

FYI: If you want to order it, RandyStinchcomb is the guy to talk to.

I have the three piece kit and I don't think that 3rd piece really protects much. I love the kit and the look, but if you get a rock, small cat, whatever, flying in there it's gonna get your radiator. Not that I"m too worried about the rocks, but how does the third piece protect anything. I didn't pay attention when I put mine in.

It's called radiator cover, not radiator protector.. it's not designed to protect anything, just cover the ugly metal brackets.

And on a side note, that's the A/C condensor you're seeing through the grille, the radiator is behind it..

That's funny. I never paid attention to that. Just always thought it was the radiator.
Nobody ever accused me of being smart.

So why does everybody on here talk about "...you HAVE TO get the 3 piece kit!!! OMG dude trust me..." ???

What really justifies almost double the price for the 3 piece kit???

You dont have to have the 3 piece. The reason why 2 piece kits are offered is because some cars like my 2000 GT are already equipped with the radiator opening cover, look thru your grille first.

The difference between the 2 and 3 peice kit is the radiator cover. ALl 99-04 GT's come with a rad cover, but they are not cut out in the center to mount the running pony. The Mach 1 peice is a GT peice with the holes prect for where the pony emblem will sit.

If you wanted, you could get a 2-peice grill kit to save money and then trim your GT rad cover to fit. Nobody will ever know the difference.

Here's the GT rad cover, the above pic is the full Mach 1

i just want to get this straight: there are 2 types of the rad cover part.

- 1 with precut holes and 1 without.

thanks for the clarification, guys.

essentially what I'm trying to do is find a way (custom netting or such) to mount a black micro mesh screen where the pony sits so I dont have the pony (like classic stangs and the real bullitt) and it looks blank from the front. Get what i mean? any suggestions or know of nyone who's done it?

I got my 3 piece thru Randy and have no regrets...the 3 piece just finishes the installation - see Mustang5L5's pic above - that says it all.
