radiator replacement?

Anyone know what the differences are with the 96 gt model radiator and the 97-04? My 96's bearings on the fan motor seized up and i need a replacement but all i find are the whole fan assembly which is $270 which i dont have. I found someone selling their 01 radiator with fan and everything. I was wondering if it could be easily modded to work with my 96.

The 96 is a black sheep when it comes to the radiator. I guess it was a little small and had cooling problems so they switched to a different radiator. For 97 and up.

I think the radiator brackets need to be modified slightly but they will fit.
I think there is a thread floating around here where someone put in an 03-04 Cobra Radiator.

i ran into a similiars situation with my 03 mustang. the factory fan was like 300.. so i ordered aftermarket fans from summit and havent had any problems at all....

My fan recently went out. I picked up a Fan and 03 cobra radiator off a local forum.

OEM fans are expensive. Grab a OEM fan off Ebay used with low milage. The fans changed in 01 i think.

Yea i had bought a used 01 fan and radiator the other day for pretty cheap. I thought the bottom brackets would be wide enough but i guess not so i gotta modify both tops(i think) and 1 bottom to get it to fit. I have to wait for my friend to get home so i can borrow his die grinder and a tank cause i think im gonna have to cut a part out of the bottom passenger bracket. I didnt want to really get a oem 96 fan since they had cooling issues. I was hoping i could just use the bigger 01 fan to my 96 radiator but the 01 fan was about an inch bigger.
