Got a wiring "harness" mess when i removed the aftermarket radio in my 92 vert. Lots of harness that does not look original. Broke it down to the main harness(s) and was hoping someone could shed some light on it as to what it should hook up to. here are some pics.

there appears to be an area behind the radio that could have had an amp mounted. with the two harnesses coming into the radio area i assume that is what was supposed to be there. any info would be great. top pic harness comes out of drivers side of the dash area, bottom the passenger.

Top two plugs are for the stereo. One plug will have your power, switched power, ground, illumination and all that wires on it. The other plug is for all the speakers. As for the bottom pic im not sure since my 89 didn't have an amp. I know the cable looking one is for the radio antenna but im sure you already knew that.. lol

yeah, knew one side or the other was for the in and out for just the radio. the other only makes sense if there was an amp involved. and yeah the antenna wire, i'm good there. LOL

If you are planning on putting in an aftermarket stereo I would recommend buying the harness plug. They are like 7 bucks and make it so you don't have to hack up your factory wiring. Makes it so much easier as well.

i just removed all the aftermarket harness mess the previous owner had installed. i am putting everything back to stock. when i started taking it apart tonight it was with the knowledge that i had a stock tape player waiting to be put in. but after removing the mess of what looks like possible stock harness cut/tied and taped together with an aftermarket mess i ran into the dual harness deal i posted pics of and wonder if this was a premium with amp. so now i need confirmation of that and will have to go down the road of locating premium stuff.

local ford dealer confirmed that this is a premium factory wiring harness. which means the dumb sob who owned it before me threw the stock premium tape and the amp n the trash and installed crap in it instead. now i search for a premium amp and stereo cassette.
