I ran this on 12/21/03 with a really low DA. I've posted this everywhere else and got some PM about my mods so I thought I would post it here too. I've got KN AF,Pullies, 70mm TB, 85mm CL MA, SLP X, LM, LT. I've got Draglites in the back with bald(really bald) MT Streets and I'm launching at 6,000 rpms. My weight with me in it is 3,476 lbs. I ran a bunch of 12.8s @ 107 and my best that day was my 12.73 all with 3.27 gears. I've got 4.10s just waiting to go in and going to upgrade to the CL Plenum or Dragon over my stupid stock air restricting junk. Anyway, that's what I ran. Super stoked to get into the 12s with 3.27 gears NA! Z I've got stock wheels up front, stock shifter, stock just about everything.

nice driving. You might want to have your rear end beefed up while you are getting gears installed, maybe some 31 spline axels, clutch packs or whatever so you don't blow anything launching at 6k. Don't forget to heat cycle those gears

Thanks, I'm kind of waiting on a buddy of mine to get the rear end done. But I know I've got to beef that up this winter. Once you go 6k launches you can never go back! Z

I'm throwing up the BS flag here how about a couple because I smell a hole bunch of it. No one runs that quick with only those mods.

You can call bs all day, but I witnessed it and it is the truth. Atco is one sweet track. Awesome traction and awesome DA!!!!

dude launching at 6000 rpm seems right. there is an old MM&FF with a GT modular shootout and they were all launching at crazy rpms like that hitting 12's and the more modded cars were in the high 11's.

Way to go man!

Dude, check corral, modulardepot, etc. I was there with 4 other friends that witnessed the whole thing. This is old news. But this is why I didn't want to originaly post here. I did because people were pming me for my mods. Ken B explained everything about DA on corral.net. 12.73 @ 107 BOYYYYY!!! 12s all day long at 107 with old 3.27s gears UH!

I'm afraid I have to run with the crowd on this one UNTIL I see a timeslip.

Lot's of guys have the same mods and aren't running close to that e.t., esp. with the 3.27 gears.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but until I see a slip or a video I'm withholding judgement

*edit also please explain this "DA". I don't feel like seaching over there for the info.

If the DA was in the negative it maybe possible. DA is Density Altitude. When temp and humidity are low and pressure is up where you are racing, the track actualy fall under sea level. Racing and weather go hand in hand. Typical racing takes place about 1200' above sea level in the North West even more. So if the DA was -1200 I belive these times can be achieved. Now come down here in the spring and try it! Good going though.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering.

But with more power because of the low DA and the colder temps, wouldn't you have traction problems? Couldn't the weather be a limiting factor into itself?

I think that automaticweapon guy was there that day too. Make sure his time slip doesnt have a 77## number in it, lol!!! Of course he runs alot faster than 12.7. We may have to call in NitroLew for verification!!! Couldn't call in starkie, he had to go xmas shopping that day

Density Altitude is the actual weather conditions for the specific time in feet.

For instance. Atco is 50 feet above sea level. If you run at Atco in the summer, with a temp of 90 degrees with 50 percent humidity and a barometric pressure of 29.50 you come up with a DA of 2816 feet above sea level actual air conditions. Not very good for running good times.

Then, you run in December at Atco, with a temp of 35 degrees with 50 percent humidity and a barometric pressure of 30.40 and the DA is -2071. That is awesome for running good times. Air so much cooler and denser.

So take both these situations above, and take the same car without changing any mods. In the summer, the car runs a 13.40 lets say. That same car in the December weather conditions I stated above runs a 12.73 without changing a thing.

Thats why paying attention to the exact conditions at the time of a run is so important. If run a time in the winter, then change gears and don't run again til summer, your times won't be as good. You would think the gear swap sucked and did nothing for you, when in reality it did.

Still, your timeslip is your timeslip. Jay ran those times, and with the DA for that day, is right on with what he should have run. Nice runs Jay.

Atco is usually very good about track prep. But as I mentioned put him in his car at normal sea level and there is no 12's there. However he does have 1 12.7 time slip and a few higher, so be happy for him.
