Hi all,

I have a 99 GT that I bought last year. It has a Vortech V2 SQ supercharger
and a Focus fuel pump installed. I'm driving along today downtown doing maybe 30 mph when the car starts sputtering then shuts down......I ran out
of gas. The problem is that my fuel gauge read that I still had 1/4 tank left.

This is the first time since I've owned the car that I have let the fuel level get to 1/4 tank so I'm not sure if the problem is new or not.

I know the previous owner had the cobra white face gauges faceplate installed in the car so my first thought was that the fuel gauge needle was not installed correctly after the install. At this pont I start getting a little worried about my other needles so I go into Diagnostic mode to check everything out. According to the diagnostic readings, all of my needles are fairly accurate. The reading for my fuel level read 112 which according to the chart, would indicate that my fuel level would be about halfway between 1/4 and 1/2. I know for a fact that this reading is false because I put in $10.00
of gas after running out and I drove the car for a bit after that also. After putting in $10.00 of gas, my fuel gauge needle never moved, it just stayed at the 1/4 mark. I'm thinking that the fuel sending unit is to blame here......any ideas?

BTW here is the link for the diagnostic mode info that I use. It is very helpful.

Did you install the focus fuel pump yourself? Did a shop do it? I think the installation caused the problem...

No I bought it with the Supercharger and pump already installed. I know the previous owner installed the SC but I'm not sure if he installed the pump or a shop did it.
