Hi everyone, I am new here and I really like what I see. I have read quite a bit about the Randalls rack R&P set-up and it looks like it may be just what I need for my 65 coupe. If I understand right the Rack unit is an off the shelf item but that seems to be all I can find out about it. One article I read refered to it as a "certain" common part that could be found at most auto parts if replacement were ever needed but what I want to know is what unit is this? Ford? GM? etc? any info here would be much appreciated.

Thanks that what I wanted to know and thanks for the link it answered my next question before I even asked, about installing the 8.8 rear.

it is based on a GM J-car (cavalier, sunfire, etc.) rack but an exact replacement isn't available off the shelf since it has been pretty highly modified however it can be resealed and even have the internals rebuilt at a local shop that does rack and pinion and generally CV shaft work.
