I have a 2002 mustang GT with about 120,000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a misfire on acceleration, shortly after that the service engine light came on. I took it to my local mechanic and he saw a misfire on cylinders 1,2,3,4 & 6. We replaced all of the plugs, I drove it for about a day and the same misfire came back 1,2,3,4 & 6. We replaced the coil packs only on those cylinders. I drove it. Same problem showed up. So I took it to ford and had them test it. They called and said that they noticed the same misfire codes on 1,2,3,4, & 6 but the coil pack on 8 was dropping out really bad and they needed to replace that one before they could go any further. Does any of this make sense and does anyone have any ideal what could be causing this random misfire?
The misfire seems to come randomly for the most part and the car runs strong.
we also did a fuel induction service and changed the fuel filter thinking it could be a fuel issue.
