hello i was told by a ford tech/collector that if i got an early model ranger, that i could use the spindles and brakes since the bolt patten is the same as the mustang 5 lug rims. i uses to have one sitting around too.

For the 4cyl models yes, but limits your wheel selection plus your brakes still suck.

has this actually been done yet, or is it just an assumption

the diameter for the ranger rotors are 10.23" and the stock rotors are 10", so im not sure if there is enough clearance for the larger diamater rotor to fit with the caliper

has anyone actually done it?

Ranger ROTORS are the same size as 87-93 4 clyinder and 82-86 Mustangs. This is just like the ever so controversial Mark VII rotor swap on 87-93 5.0's.

You can't use the spindles, because as far as I know the Rangers use an Upper and Lower balljoint.

2 drivers side (maybe it was passenger but i think driversside) axles out of a ranger 7.5 rear end. these will fit a mustang 8.8
also need two ranger drums.

two mark 7 rotors and you are done. could add mark 7 calipers for improvement. they are not the same size as 4 cylinder rotors-they are atleast as big as mustang v8 rotors.(remember a mark7 is not a small car)

braking is the same as it was. i did this conversion with lots of legwork. junkyards, autoparts...if i did it now i would just order the complete kit from 5.0 restoration.

wheel selection is not bad if the wheel you like fit. most dished wheels for the newer mustangs do not fit. if you want dished wheels you need the sn95 front spindles.

Again, if you go from the 4cyl spindles or previous 82-86 Gt ones, you have to swap the spindles from a 87-93 v8 mustang to use the larger rotors (mark7s as you are discussing)

im not trying to be rude or anything, id just like to see it done, im hearing one or 2 sources saying that the ranger rotors have to have the diameter reduced to 10" to work, and im hearing another source saying the rotors are the same size and are a direct swap to go to 5 lug

im just trying to get a definite yes or no, with some physical proof of some sort, a picture, or someone saying "yes, i did the swap..." im not trying to call you liar by any means, i would just like to be 100% sure before i spend any money, or tell anybody about it
