How much HP are the ranger/aerostar axles good for?? I'm putting down 340HP and 360 TQ to the rear wheels, street driver with the occasional hot rodding from time to time.

I am needing to narrow down my SN95 rear so that I can put some 10 inch wide wheels on my car.

I think it's hit or miss on the stock axles. I've read about near stock cars breaking them and them living a long time behind stroker or power adder cars. If you don't run slicks I think you'd be ok since traction would break before the axle.

They will handle that much power, they handled 414RWHP and 366RWTQ and Nittos in my Cobra. When I had a problem, it wasn't the axles, it was the stock diff. The clutches went bad. When I had it fixed, I upgraded to 31 spline stuff while I was in there and sold my 28 spline stock stuff.

IT really isn't power, it's traction....how hard the car hooks up.

you really only have problems with stock axles when someone uses slicks and the engine doesnt produce enough power to spin the tires and the car does a dead hook something in the driveline has to give. So if your only going to ever use street tires then you shouldnt have a problem. I ran stock axles with slicks into the low 12's with a stick car.
