Rattle Can?

I am going to start srtipping my car one way or another.

My question is can I buy rattle can primer to cover the metal as I strip it? and if so what is the best filling primer and where do I get it?

do not buy off the shelf stuff,go to a paint store that sells auotmotive paint and buy some self etching primer for bare metal spots.

I'm using a rattle can from Eastwood, A green self etching primer as I strip a panel at a time. When I get it completely stripped and the body work done, I will sand back down and use a spray gun to prime it.

At least this way. it won't rust in the meantime as this is going to be a long project.

well i dint mean spots, i just meant a rattle can is ok for small areas,but i wouldnt do a whole car that way,your painter may not like it.

There are so many scratches that have rust in them as well as a fel rust spots, I need to do the whole car. Being in oregon I need to prime anything I strip the day I strip it. So theoreticly by the time the car is ready for paint the whole thing will be primer

just remember that most painters wont gurantee the work becuase they dont whats under the primer,so they might charge you to take it down to metal again.

Good point..... that would be cheaper that them doing all the work though

I get your point but keep the car dry as primer will not block out the moisture and it will rust anyway if it gets wet.
