I recently had the 13" kit installed on the rear of my car, however it is making a sound like a card in bicycle spokes while braking. Anyone else experience this ? How did you remedy it??? TIA

sounds like the pads were not bedded or heat cycled properly.

many make this sound, it will subside as everything gets worn in. the sound is the brake bad gasses quickly escaping the drilled holes. it is normal.

Thanks for your replies, the Baer tech told me it was normal, but DAYUM it was loud! I kept telling my wife to just turn up the radio, but she wasn't buyin' it. I guess they go back unless they get quiet REAL quick! Thanks again for your help. I just needed to hear what the rep said was not just B.S.,

Hey I just did mine, how where you able to get enough cable to reattach the e-brake, I pull on it with a vice grip but there just isn't enough cable to re- connect the line, how did you get more slack, I've even tried compressing the spring on the caliper and still I can't pull enough cable to snag in the line!

I did that, to get the lack in the actual line, that's in place, but I can't seem to pull enough of the cable out to snag it back behind the spring so that the brakes can actually be put on. Maybe I just need to start eating my wheaties!!!!

Modern street pads don't expel gases...only race pads do.


It's actually common with slotted rotors. I was told the clicking is simply the pad passing over the slots.

Lots of people who get the 13' rear brake setup from baer run into the problem with not enough slack in the parking brake line. I believe in the instructions, they show the caliper mounted in the stock upper right position. A solution to this is to flip the mounting brackets around to where the caliper is mounted to the lower right position. This allows enough slack to re-attach the brake line. If you look on Baer's site at some of the customer cars, you'll see a guy that has his calipers mounted this way. If you call Baer, they should confirm this.

Thanks for all the replies, I took them off (temp I hope) at the wife's request , I will try again when she leaves to see Mom in a few weeks and I am armed with some more info/insight, LOVE the look, wife just can't deal with the noise

Thanks, ran into the same thing. I can barely get enough cable to put the caliper back on but it doesn't seat properly over the pads. I'll swap the lt and rt brackets and flip them upside-down tomorrow.
