I have been in discussion with the county about building a real 1/8th mile drag strip at the Monroe Fairgrounds. (They do not have enough room for a 1/4 mile) Today I was notified that the Parks, Special Projects Director, Gary Weikel has not heard any public outcry for a new track.

My proposal to them was to help get drag racing off the street, and that it also would be profitable for the county.
The county owns this part of the fairgrounds.

So, Mr. Weikel needs to hear from every drag racer around the area. Here is a web link to let them know your opinion. Please be courteous.

Also the Snohomish County Council needs to hear your opinon. Here is a link to their web site. Again, please be courteous.

It would be helpful to know what kind of replies any of you get back.

Feel free to post on other forums. I already posted this on the LS1 Tech site.

I sent messages to both. A decent 1/8 mile is better than what they have now but I would really love to see a 1/4 mile track nearby. Perhaps this is a step in that direction. Thanks Kent for stepping up like this. You Da Man!!

Thanks EJ for your support. Hopefully we can get a huge number of people that will take a couple of minutes out of their day to click on the links and send their opinon. Drag strips across the nation often die-off due to lack of involvement from racers and fans, and getting involvment to get new ones built is even harder.

Totally awesome proposal, Kent. I'm very happy you stepped up to the plate to get the ball rolling and get the party started.

I'm in full support.

If there was a local fully functional drag track I'd be there every weekend practicing the lights for car club. Unfortunately the current setup at Evergreen is not sufficient for authentic practice when you're starting on the banking.
