I have a 96 4.6L cobra and I'm trying to replace my rear end. In order to take ring out I have to slide axles out first but I'm not sure if I have to use a special tool for it or I have to bang them out. They are not bolted in so I think they are maybe pressed in?

This will get you as far as removing the axle shafts.

If this is the first time doing a rear gear upgrade, I recommend the Bad Shoe Productions rear end DVD.
Very informative.
