rear diff whinning ?

yes its whinning on first miles of cold weather, after a miles or half its stop whinning, I use 70w/90 RP, is this normal ?

How cold? I've never heard mine whine at all but you may want to check your fluid level just to make sure.

You may have a bearing going bad.

Well, first of all, the factoy spec fluid is 80W90. Secondly, did you put in 4oz. of friction modifier?? For trac loc axles need this. Try that first....if it doesn't help, I vote for bearings as well. Bearings are cheap, labor is double.

I use Royal Purple. If I want switch to regular fluid , what should I use ?

I just use Valvoline 80W90. No need for synthetic. Bearing kits can be purchased from www.50resto.com I am sure. See I just take my car to my rear end shop and they just do it up when I have a problem.

I look at the manual , saying I should use 80w/140 or something like that. I bought RP from americanmuscle.com and 80w/90 is only weight they carry. when did ford change the fluid spec ?

RP sux, i swear to god - every test i've ever seen of their stuff finishes in the bottom 2-3
(oh, and i'm using it too )

I beleive that now that im using it, and I like regular oil then synstec oil now too. What good brand for tranny and rear diff ? for my 1998 mustang. thanks

30 degrees up, I never seen any less then that here. thanks god, if its I will end up buy a beater honduh for winter beatler.

I use Red Line synthetic and have had no issues whatsoever. I use it in the Cobra (engine oil, tranny oil, rear) and in my Expedition (engine oil, tranny fluid).
