Just found a rear end (8.8) with rear disc brakes that came of a mustang 87-93. Will this bolt up to my 93 2.3l? The guy wants $300. Future plans for the car are a stroked 351. I think this is what I'm looking for. Is this a good deal?

Ummmmm the only rearend that came stock with disc brakes in a fox body stang was the 93 Cobra, so unless this is some sort of aftermarket swap then no it wont just be a bolt in affair.

This really can only be one of 4 rearends. It could an 87-88 turbocoupe rearend, a SN-95 rearend, a 93 cobra rearend, or a stock fox rearend thats been modified with a disc set-up. Though all of these will bolt right in the first 3 are an inch wider than a stock fox and all of them require a disc brake specific or adjustable proportioning valve and I believe a different master cylinder. I think in your case the factory 93 Cobra master cylinder and proportioning valve would work.

The 87-88 Turbocoupe rears require some sort of hybrid cable system to make the parking brake work as the Turbocoupes used a foot pedal and the foxes used a hand brake set up.

Their are several right ups on swapping any of these rearends into a fox body just use google and you'll find them. Though first, I think the key would be to figure out the whole story on this rearend before you buy it. That way you'll know what your gettin into.

I know it has 308 gears. I know they are to low for my 2.3. It has 5 lug axles. The only numbers on it are the ones on the tag SO40L 308 88 7A02. Just tryin to find what this came out of. Thanks for your info.

Well I mean, there's not exactly a lot of options as to what it's from. It's either an SN95 axle, or one that somebody swapped over to five lug and disc brakes.

I'm guessing right now that it's not an SN95 axle because I think the lowest gears they ever came with were 3.27's, and I doubt anyone would swap from them to 3.08's.

My 95 actually has 3.08's from the factory.

I found out that the axle goes to an Explorer 94- 01. I pretty sure this wont work the shock mounts are on the wrong side of the axle.
That's correct. The control arm mounts are probably completely different, as well. If you could snag the 31 spline tracloc out of it, it might even have some 3.55 or 3.73 gears already. Would make a nice swap into a Mustang specific 8.8 with some aftermarket axles, but I don't think it'd be worth $300 to buy the entire housing.
