Rear End Blown??!!

ok guys while driving i hear a really bad clanking noise coming from the rear i drove for a little and then it got really bad the car then felt like it was just strugling to move so i got to a locale shop put the car on a lift and then turn the car on and put in first grear all you hear is alot clanking noise coming from inside the rear differential i guess it looks like time rebuild now any ideas as to what part to get and from where????!!!

try jegs or summit have them price match anything you may find cheaper anywhere else,

they also only charge 9.99 for shipping and gears aren't lite.

I know that if you want 3.55 FRP gears from jegs there on backorder for 9 weeks

i all ready got 373 gears inside do u think they are fine??
if i am really going to do this i want to do it right i want a new unit and axles
like 31 spline what u think about this ford unit???

Sounds to me like you snapped an axle. It's odd that you would snap one with relatively few mods (i.e. no power adder). What were you doing when it went?

a burn out i did drive for a little it was making some noise then i took off from a light hard

Yeah, that may have done it.

31 spline axles are a good upgrade, but if your replacing the diff as well, go with something more robust than a trac-lok.

like what that ford piece looks good
great for the price 255 compared to like 500 for a auburn???

That 31 spline diff anad superior axles is what I will be going to very soon. I just further broke my rearend a few minutes ago doing some WOT datalogging. Sounds like gravel when I turn a corner now.

open the rear and check it out... sounds like a wiped pinion bearing to me...
