rear end getting done, is it ok to dyno

some of you guys prolly came across some of my threads on other things pertaining to current mods. to keep it short im getting the rear end and gears and heads and cams. the installer was also going to dyno tune my car right after the installs.

do you guys think or know if this will be ok as far as the gears and the cams? i dont know if i should push them so hard right after installation. for the dyno tune it going to be pushed pretty hard.

what do you think? ive never seen a thread on this since ive joined here.

i've never did the 'break in' period with any of the sets of gears i've had & not had a problem out of them. not to say that you might not, but i've never had a problem out of mine. just make sure to express your concern before hand, that way if anything happens it'll ALL be back on them. just need to cover your own butt

i suppose that the cams should be ok since i got springs too.

If you're feeling like you can afford a mishap, then go through with the dyno.

But on the other hand, if it is at all possible, I'd wait. It comes down to "better to be safe than sorry" or.. just go for it.

Go drive it around the block a couple times before you dyno it and see if there's any problem first.

dude i would so wait i would not chance it even if you had all areas covered i would still break everything in i would really recomend it

Cams will be fine but if you talk with Ford Racing or Richmond, they both recommend a break in method for their gears. I'd follow it and this will allow you to make sure all else is okay with the engine too.

The cams DO NOT need to be broken in, so your fine there. As for the gears some do and some dont. Personally I didnt and mine are fine. They were even removed and looked fine.

I didn't follow any special break in procedure with my engine or gears, but I didn't run at WOT when they were new either. I would personally give them several hundred miles before having the car dyno-ed, it can't hurt but that's just an opinion.

well some say that the gears are fine and be careful with dynoing the cams. others say the opposite. to tell you the truth i dont know what im more worried about. i really wouldnt be as worried about the gears if it was just them, but its the whole rear end. i do think im more worried about the cams though. i will be calling foxlake tomarrow to see what they say about the cams.

maybe ill just take the car for a couple of days after install and break it in for a bit. i will also call the installer and see what he thinks. ill let you guys know what they say.

I always break everything in how im going to use it.......hammer down,dyno it!! you wont have a prob if you do something wasnt right in the first place.

when i got my gears i asked the guys, and they said "when u get to that black top (bout 50 ft away).. light them up!" ... and have never had a problem since. its gettin to be about 10k miles down the road now..

i suppose i'm of the thought that if you didnt bother thinking about the gears when you bought your car, why bother with new gears? I'd give a few test revs to make sure there is nothing wrong with the install of the gears, then just go crackers. if everything seems find after the first hundred feet, hit the highway to make sure the gears are happy with high speeds, then dyno.

My brother never had an issue with going full out with his new gears, nor with his new block and supercharger. but its all for nothing if you dont have peace of mind, so do what YOU think is best.

well just to let anyony know who may have been wondering. i talked to ron from foxlake today and he said heads and cams dont need a break in period. i told him i was planning to dyno it, he said go ahead and run them! so im very happy about that. the gears are another story...but you dont have to slam gears on the dyno, its mostly rpm work. i think the tuner can shift softly if he has to.

maybe ill take the car for a day and break i nthe gears.

over all i think if the car takes a ride around the block and goes on the dyno it should be ok.
