I came home today and found a puddle of gear oil under the rear of my car...now i just added a rear end girdle...so when i filled it up it took like 4 quarts! i was like damn thats alot....but i filled it till i could just touch the oil with my finger in the level check.....my car has been sitting in the driveway since saturday....did this happen b/c of too much fluid? it appears to have come out of the vent on the pass side cause the housing is wet and the puddle is under the pass side, maybe a 1/4 of a quart came out.....should i drain some more?

sounds like it was flung <--- is that even a word) up around the vent tube and when it was sitting in your driveway it drained what was in the tube and 4q does sound like a bit much so it's just puking the excess

Fill it up to the stock fill level hole, not the girdle hole!

Anytime you have excessive and unexplained oil leakage from your rearend, that's cause for concern.

I agree with all the other guys - it sounds overfilled.

Good luck.
