I was wondering what axles from other fords (heard the explorers and maybe rangers) would fit into a 96 gt?

I don't know of any others either. However, some 4x4 explorere (maybe all, I'm not 100% sure) had 31 spline carriers. So that COULD be a cheap upgrade if you have to buy axles anyway.

the rear center sections on 4x4 solid axle explorers/mountaineers should be 31 spline trac-loc. axles are all different, but its a cheap way to get a diff.

well i found one in a jyard, im in the process of taking out the axle, but ran out of time and have to finish tomorrow.

I had trouble with the little bolt that holds that small shaft in, its a weird haed, anyone know what it is?

You mean the bolt that holds the cross pin in the carrier? If so it can be a major pita. Be carefull not to strip it out.
